The Queen of Pet Adoptions

So I am happy to annouce that I have found homes for all 5 kittens and the mom! It was hard work and the subject of many prayers but I was able to find loving homes for everyone. I am feeling pretty good about it all, so if anyone needs help....I am a seasoned pro! As happy as I am to have my life back and only having to take care of the 2 dogs now, I have to admit I really do miss those little cuties!

I am officially in love with the Atlantic Ocean

So as a special treat Mason and I got to go to Florida for a week. We rarely take vacations so it was much needed. We visited Mason's oldest brother and his family who were amazing hosts and showed us all the wonderful things Florida has to offer...The view from his brother's office. Overlooks Palm Beach. We went on a swap walk and encountered some grasshoppers on steriods and saw some gators, but the part that struck me the most was how other wordly this area was. We went snorkeling off the keys and had a blast. Sea turtles and baracuda were abundant.

We also spent a couple days at the beach. Oh my goodness the water is so warm and crystal clear! I could not believe it. Loved it, hence the name of the post. I never go swimming in CA bc even if I am brave enough to get past the initial shock of the cold, you are shivering after being in for a few minutes. I seriously loved the beach here!

What do you do when you are bored with your hair?

So I have a complicated relationship with my hair. But honestly, what girl doesn't? Since the end of high school I have had the same hair. Long with long layers. There was a stint for a while where it was black, but my hair is naturally dark brown, so its not too much of a stretch. This is who I am and how I am most comfortable: Last year, I was so over my long boring hair that I chopped it all off. While it looked fine, I never quite felt like myself and was very anxious for it to grow out. So this time around I was feeling very bored with hair again and instead of chopping it off, I got bangs. Woah. Now I really don't look like myself. What do you think...is it me?

I seriously have not had bangs since forever. The last time that I had bangs I was little. Like this little: I think my last bang phase ended at about 6 years old. Now it is a little hard to see my bangs, but they are there (I am the one in knee socks, closest to the bear holding my breath).

Couponing & Stray Cats

So another exciting thing in my life is that I have started clipping coupons. After Mason had me watch some episodes of Extreme Couponing, I signed up to get the Sunday paper. I don't know if any of you have watched that show, but it really is extreme. While I don't have any plans to go buy thousands of tubes of toothpaste at once, I have taken advantage of some seriously good deals. Since I started clipping coupons I have saved an average of 50% off my grocery bill as well as getting many drug store items (deoderant, razors, shampoo) for 80% off to FREE. It is actually pretty fun and I would reccomend you try it. My coupon binder:

Let me start out by saying that I really am my mother's daughter. I have always loved animals, but not until lately have I really thought that it was such a big part of who I am. As circumstances would have it, I recently became the rescuer and foster care for a mom and 5 baby kittens. I am getting assistance from a local cat rescue for vaccinations and placement but I figured this is good as place as any to say I am looking for homes for each one of them! I have 2 all gray, one male, one female (pictured here).

I have 3 grey and white all female.

The mom is about a year old and she is long hair grey and white.

Seriously, the photos do not do them justice, they are even cuter in person. They are sweet and affectionate, litter box trained and current on vaccinations. Let me know if are interested!

A Trip to Dallas

So this post is very bittersweet for me. So a few weeks ago my best friend moved to Texas. Her and her husband bought a house just outside of Dallas and her husband drove their cars out (with his parents) and they decided it would be better for us to fly out with the twins rather than endure 3 days in a car. This meant that I got to tag along to help out. All I am going to say is, travelling with twins is hard work and I will never be annoyed at a baby crying on an airplane again.

Besides the challenge of flying with 6 month olds, the trip was amazing. Dallas is such a friendly place! I got to help her move into her beautiful new house and be a part of this exciting time for her.

I also got to see another good college friend who lives closeby, which was awesome. Thank you Laura for making the drive out!

The bitter part of this all is that for the past 10 years of our friendship we have never lived more than 30 minutes from each other. It is going to be a tough transition to say the least. So here is to you and the boys...Miss you guys!

Downtown Date

So this weekend my awesome hubby turned a errand downtown into an amazing date. A few months back, while walking through a doorway I caught my engagement band and bent it way out of shape. I mean this thing looked like I threw it down the garbage disposal, I wish I had a picture of the damage. Anyways, so I have been meaning to get downtown to have our jeweler fix it, but we finally got around it on Saturday.
While meeting with our jeweler Mason surprised me with a 3 1/2 year anniversary gift, I was floored. So sweet. We had some time to kill while waiting for my ring to be repaired and cleaned up, so we went for a walk. And our walk ended over at Bottega Louie. Say what?!
They have the most amazing desserts and I have the biggest sweet tooth. If you are ever downtown and love sweets you have to go! I especially like the blueberry tarts and chocolate hazelnut beignets, so yummy!
Such a fun little afternoon date. Delicious desserts and a my engagement band all shiny and straight. It seriously has been probably over a year since I had it cleaned last. Man what a difference it makes, I feel like a newly wed all over again!

Hitting Cars and Getting Cars

So driving Mason all over LA turned out not to be too bad. I felt like I am finally learning my way around LA a little better which is nice, but I also learned that the more you drive, the more likely it is that you will get in an accident. Yes, that is right. While driving Mason home one night from Santa Monica we were rear ended. Mason is okay (thank goodness!) but I have some serious neck pain. I have been seeing a great dr and he is hopeful in a few weeks I should start feeling better. I am over having a perma-headache! We are having an attorney handle all of this mess, but still just another thing to add to our plate. Grr.

Now on to some good news. Drum roll please.....We bought a new car! It is a 2006 Toyota Prius. After months of research, looking and thinking we finally did it. We are so excited! It is a great car and we will save about a billion dollars in gas now that Mase is driving a prius instead of his truck. Which reminds me, anyone interested in buying a Toyota Tacoma?
