A Weekend with Gus

So this past weekend we babysat Mason's little nephew while his sister and her hubby got a much needed vacation. He was an absolute dream. He took nice long naps and laughed and smiled (almost) the whole time. Get ready for picture overload because this baby and his tank tops are literally the cutest things ever and I went a little crazy.

Baby Gus loved dog Gus. He would follow him all around the house climbing on him, stealing his toys, etc. it was too cute.

Apparently babies love big sliding glass doors, because this kid was having a blast pounding on them to get Jax's attention or just goofing around.

On Saturday we took him with us out to the LA Roadster show and he loved it. He loves making friends with everyone and his huge blue eyes and constant smile wins everyone over.

I know, I know, sooo many pictures but can you blame me?! Such a cutie. But man. Kids sure are a lot of work. Respect to all the parents out there.

It is Officially Summer!

Summer is in full swing here at the Wright house! We took the cover off the old grill and put it to work.
Someone thought that if followed Mason around long enough he might drop something. Sorry pup, better luck next time!

Gorgonzola burgers, sweet potato fries, grilled zucchini & mushrooms. (Mushrooms for me at least, I love mushrooms but Mase is not a fan). It was delicious!!

The following week we started 'juicing'. In an attempt to jumpstart a healthy eating kick (and lets be honest, maybe lose a few pounds before our big vacation**) we decided to do a juice fast. I mean, check out this fridge!
I only lasted a few days but Mase is on day 5 and still going strong. Most of the mixtures are actually pretty good and I think I am going to be a once a day juicer just to get an extra boost of veggies. It is a good way to start eating healthy and having an awesome farmer's market close by definitely helps.
Yay for warm weather, fresh veggies, barbeques, picnics at the park and all that comes with summer in southern california!
**As a side note  we are going on our first big vacation since we've been married (about time!). We are taking a 7 day cruise to the caribbean and could not be more excited. Only 13 more days!

Memorial Day Weekend

As many of you know my hubby works a lot. It was a very special to have him take some time off and we got to spend some quality time together. Our weekend started with a trip to one of my favorite places. The dog beach.
Gus Gus doesn't generally play with the other dogs but it is still fun. The beach is beautiful no matter what  you're doing there. One of the cutest things that he does is whenever Mase & I walk together Gus always wants to walk right in between us.

Then on Monday we took a nice 15 mile bike ride down to the ocean and back.
We rode along the LA River Path and for the most part it was very scenic. I had no idea that there wer horse properties in Long Beach, I mean we rode past some serious cowboys in their levis, boots & hats. Long Beach, who would have thought?
After stopping to get a snack we headed home and with the wind at our back it seemed much faster. Gus was a trooper and ran about 11 of the 15 miles before scooped him up and put him in the basket.
It took him awhile to get used to it, but he finally gave in and stopped trying to jump out. It was quite a work out with an extra 25 lbs in the basket.
Monday night we got invited to a Dodger's game! Thanks Benshine!
We had amazing seats, got to eat amazing food till our stomach's were about to burst and had a blast hanging with these guys.

Such a great day. I am so grateful to live in this wonderful country. I am so grateful for all the men & women who serve so selflessly to grant us the freedoms we enjoy. Happy Memorial Day!!

Date Nights

So we love our date nights around these parts. Traditional or not. For date night last week we went to dinner with friends.
This is only my second time to Yard House and I have to say I have really enjoyed the food both times. But of course the company was the best part!

This weekend we met up with some family that was in town and went to Go Kart World. Fun Fact: Mason and I went on our very first date at Go Kart World in Jan of 2007. Needless to say it has a very special place in our hearts! It was a ton of fun!
The bumper cars were absolutely hilarious. All of the pictures were super blurry..sorry..but I had to throw one in. These two boys were cracking me, going full speed trying to see what damage they could do. I think it is just human nature that brothers always act like teenagers when they get together. Anybody else find this to be true?
